Communication: Phosphate Functional Core-Shell Polymer Nanoparticles for the Release of Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor

Louisa Gilmore, Stephen Rimmer and Sheila MacNeil have published a communication in the journal Chembiochem.

Nanodelivery: The controlled delivery of growth factors is an essential aspect of angiogenesis, and here we describe a particulate delivery system that provides vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF). Core-shell nanoparticles composed of polystyrene cores and cross-linked polymers of an alkenyl phosphate bind and release VEGF and highly basic peptide sequences. VEGF was released over several days in a bioactive form.
